So, not very Christmassy – but you could at least claim that any tree on or around Christmas is a Christmas tree – can’t you? It did lead to some unfamiliar words for a daily puzzle (but it was a holiday), and I could even have squeezed another tree in (RATTAN and AWAY instead of ROTHKO and ANKH). I suspect I had started out with the aim of one tree per row, and was simply more successful than I anticipated.
