OAE, you ask? Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, of course. Perhaps a slightly unexpected entity to encounter here, but the world throws up some neat coincidences. Back when I worked for the Home Office, I had a colleague whose partner was publicity officer for the OAE, and when she heard I did crosswords, she asked for one for their Friends’ newsletter (called, then and now, Enlightenment; not, perhaps, the most imaginative title, but undeniably tempting). In the end, I did three, and here’s the first.
