Here we are with another puzzle from another outlet: One Across. For once I can’t give you a website to contact, but there’s an email address for you to enquire about subscriptions.
There will be a midweek update later this week, giving a little background to my recent Inquisitor puzzle.
If you see this in time, you may be able to get the Sunday Telegraph for 25 August to find my puzzle Unreliable in their Enigmatic Variations series. And there’s also this puzzle on the Oxford Today website.
And just a follow-up to the great fun we’ve been having with earthquakes recently (they do seem to have subsided again). A colleague was telling me his sons were told they’d be finishing formal lessons early one day so the school could practice the ‘Drop, Cover, Hold’ response to an earthquake. So at 2:30 the kids obediently got under their desks, fulfilling the ‘drop’ and ‘cover’ elements. And at 2:31 the 6.6 quake hit, which I dare say activated the ‘hold’ reflex pretty nicely.
