It occurred to me yesterday that my first puzzle appeared in 1979, and that hence I have had puzzles published in the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s, the 2000s, the 2010s and the 2020s – six different decades. It’s enough to make anyone go and lie down in a quiet room (though actually I have the APEX reminder to get out, and an apple-and-rhubarb crumble to make).
The puzzle this week is an Inquisitor from 2016. With such a recent vintage, there is also a fifteensquared blog and my own setter’s blog – the solution page has the links.
While I tend to deplore those who announce in January that they have already found their book of the year, I have to admit that How High we Go in the Dark by Sequoia Nagamatsu is very close to tempting me into deploring myself. Definitely one where I’m both hurrying to finish and slowing down to extend the enjoyment.
Nothing much on the published puzzles front (other than the Friday Independent slots) before the next update. I seem to have dropped off the Toughie roster completely – apologies if anyone has been missing Kcit.
