This is the weekend I collate all the clues for the APEX competition, which is a bit of a task, even with an extra day for the Waitangi Day holiday. It’s also absurdly muggy for about the tenth day in a row – while Auckland has been subjected to downpours, we’ve had little more than showers so far, and it’s been at least 20C or so, round the clock, for a week now. Lots of semi-comatose cats realising that fur coats aren’t everything.
So the puzzle today is a Church Times puzzle from 2009. Forthcoming puzzles other than the Friday Independent appearances are: Guardian Genius on 6 February, a Times puzzle on 9 February, and a Times Jumbo on 18 February. The next update may be equally curtailed, or entirely absent, as that weekend is also busy, so I’ll throw in mention of a new Church Times puzzle on 24 February.
However, I shall squeeze in a couple of setter’s blogs over the next fortnight: one for Follow The Instructions (EV) and one for Assistance for the Solver (Magpie).
