Back to adding something new. What with one thing and another, I haven’t done that for a while, and I absent-mindedly almost re-added something by trying to put up a puzzle already on the site. It was annoying to type all the way through a puzzle only to find it was already there, just not in the appropriate index. (I can rectify that, at least.) Alas, typing up two full puzzles has rather abated my inclination to write lots here, for which you may be grateful.
The puzzle is one from the BBC Music Magazine series. I’ve just spent a bit of time pulling together No. 400 (for July), so it seemed a good point to put one up. Next time will see the appearance of the 2023 APEX puzzle – solving, clue-writing and judging all complete. The Easter break will give you a bit longer to solve it, as people found it quite hard. Except for those who didn’t, of course, meaning I am still at a loss to assess my own difficulty.
There was a setter’s blog on my recent Inquisitor put up a few days ago. And I took a bit of time to augment the page on the household cats, as we have just agreed to take on our neighbour’s cat before they head for Australia. Only three others had been omitted.
March continues to be a busy month. In addition to my Friday Independent appearances, next week sees a Times Jumbo on Saturday 23 March, and an Enigmatic Variations puzzle from Kcit the day after. That’s followed by the re-emergence of Pangakupu in the Guardian on 26 March.
You seem to be on your way up …. easy does it, but perfect timing for a perfect year ahead
