The Magpie crossword magazine has a surprisingly rich history, one strand of which would take you back to Games and Puzzles (a magazine where I also published the occasional puzzle). What it is now is a monthly magazine that includes five crosswords and one numerical puzzle. The content is graded A-E, and the E puzzles are not for the faint-hearted (it should be noted that the grading system was only introduced fairly recently – the 2004 puzzle below predates it). But there will always be plenty to entertain you on the lower slopes.
It’s well worth looking into (here is their website) and I’m very grateful to them for letting you see some of my puzzles that have appeared there. My début there was May 2004, with a rather special puzzle.
